The Product:

“Can’t have Kanaval without fresco, bebi! I have to get my fresco fix every time I am back home. As a student in Haiti, fresco was essential on hot afternoon days after dismissal and when you're following the Rara band underneath that Jacmel sun. I used to mix so many flavors together: red, blue, yellow!” -Steven Baboun

These earrings were made in collaboration with Studio Baboun, a creative house dancing with innovation, the fantastical, & meaningful storytelling. Studio Baboun is based in NYC with roots in Haiti.

 

The Story: 

The Haiti Design Co jewelry team, known as “Ekip Fanm Djanm” (meaning Team of Strong Women), is made up of 12 talented artisans specializing in leather sequin jewelry, beadwork, and assembly. Leather remnants are saved after production to be transformed into beautiful jewelry designs and packaging because we live by the “waste not, want not” motto.
