“During Kanaval season, I used to paint tchatcha’s in school in preparation for Kanaval! My elementary school used to throw us a KANAVAL party every year, equipped with a Rara band. During the festivities, all you could hear were the sounds of the tchatcha’s. I can still hear the rattle sounds, see all the colorful tchatcha’s in the air, and hear the laughter of my friends and I as we danced in our unique costumes.” -Steven Baboun

This necklace was made in collaboration with Studio Baboun, a creative house dancing with innovation, the fantastical, & meaningful storytelling. Studio Baboun is based in NYC with roots in Haiti.
