Haiti Design Co is Officially Haitian-Owned!

We have BIG NEWS to share!

As many of you know, Haiti Design Co. joined forces with another artisan brand in Haiti, 2nd Story Goods, one year ago.

Both Haiti Design Co. and 2nd Story Goods exist to build a road that connects Makers to Markets.

Operating under their non-profits since inception, (2nd Story Goods since 2011, and Haiti Design Co. since 2014) there is no personal ownership of either company. Both were built to be a benefit to Haiti, a reliable road to be used by the artisans, for the artisans.

Building this connecting road has taken design, marketing, warehouse, and technical support by our team in the US. And, against all odds together we’ve developed relationships and systems that work.

Kind of.

There is a math problem whose solution says we need to cut the cost of US support so that the Artisans can retain a larger margin on the sale of goods, as the cost of doing business in Haiti has only gone up with the current troubles.

So now the US support team is working themselves out of their jobs.

What this means for you

You can continue to order Haiti Design Co. products on the haitidesignco.org website at this time. Once they are sold out, some designs will no longer be available to order.

Wholesale buyers can continue ordering 2SG and HDC goods on Faire and the 2nd Story Goods wholesale website. This will not change with the next chapter, though some HDC designs will be made to order and therefore have an increased lead time. 

For now, we’re focusing on making this transition as smooth as possible. We’re here to answer your questions and are working closely with the team in Haiti as they train for this next chapter.

This work of building a makers-to-market company has been and will continue to be one of the greatest honors of our lives. We appreciate every ounce of your support over the past 10+ years and appreciate your continued support of Haiti Design Co. in this next chapter.
