Gratitude today and always
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE! We are so grateful to see another day and we hope you are having a great time with you and your loved ones. Today, we are sharing the words of our amazing Ismaella who expresses her gratitude in the middle of difficulties. After all, that is what life is about: Rising after each challenge and letting gratitude be our compass. We have left her words unedited to capture the very essence of her message. The start of the year was marked by sadness, joy and nervousness at the same time, but I had to be positive whatever the circumstances. I don't need any introduction and I am going to give a little summary of the year. Towards the end of the previous year my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and it was a big blow to our loved ones. Glory be to God, she had surgery while at this time I was preparing to take the step towards my very first business in January 2024, moreover entering this new world is also going on an adventure, taking risks.
As many people know, the steps to be taken in the fight against cancer are numerous, long without forgetting the side effects and also certain treatments which are not accessible to the rest of us in Haiti. From there, we resorted to relatives and the GSCC ( GROUPE DE SUPPORT CONTRE LE CANCER ) because the victims need financial and also moral supports as well as testimonies from survivors and witnesses in order to give them hope, encouragements etc. Moreover, a big salute to the GSCC for its open-hearted support alongside cancer victims. A noble cause. The atmosphere is welcoming there, very friendly.
Since the first month of 2024 I have been juggling appointment times with doctors, laboratories and my newborn (LOKAL ATIZAN). I know how to see her lament, I know how to see her writhing in pain as well as trying to abstain, many times I see her thinking that she is not going to wake up the next day. Often my morale is down but as a resilient and responsible person, I must be strong, always standing, ready to face whatever the obstacle but with the wisdom to know my limits. You can see me and ask me how I do it and I answer you from the book Philippians 4.13: "I can do all things through him who strengthens me."
I've talked enough about her so now let's get to my Business.
Being responsible is both exciting and stressful but it’s normal, because one of the primary missions is to know how to create and people count on you. Even in bed at night while others are sleeping your imagination knows how to overflow and that gives meaning to the word " excitement''.
We are lucky to work with great partners, very understanding, very patient because instability, insecurity and credibility do not mix. We are blessed to lead a strong, united and understanding team.
Every day we thank God first as well as the people who accompany us. We are grateful to you ! Yes, we suffered and it lasts, yes there are after-effects. You can hear me speak and perhaps wonder if I really care about what is happening back home in Haiti. But yes, I'm aware of it and that doesn't stop me from being gratifying despite everything! I won't be able to miss it. Many have left us, whether because of illness or insecurity; there are many who mourn the premature departure of a loved one or many are fleeing home without knowing where they will take refuge.
I still hold out hope for a New Haiti one day !
The year is coming to an end and our adventures are just beginning! We are improving our performances and are more and more optimistic. Despite all obstacles we continue to hope for a better tomorrow with the gratitude of the present.
